Provides direct dental technology laboratory and teaching support for the completion of dental laboratory procedures in the Prosthodontic department for first, second and third year post-doctoral residents and selected Faculty members.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general direction from the Full-Time, Prosthodontic Department dental technologist and faculty members and, at the same time, exercising independent technical judgment, carries out dental technology procedures or works independently in specialized teaching and research assignments.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Performs fabrication, using analog and digital workfIows, of removable, fixed, maxillofacial and implant prostheses (complete and partial).
Teaches residents analog and digital workflows for the fabrication of removable, fixed, maxillofacial and implant prostheses (complete and partial); counsels them on technical problems; advises and assists them with clinical and research projects. Insures that health and safety practices are maintained in accordance with University of Rochester policies.
Is proactive in self-directed learning for new technologies.
Maintains general laboratory efficiency and cleanliness of laboratory area.
Coordinates service support: repair of equipment, requisitioning of supplies (in coordination with FT Dental Technologist), materials, and minor construction. May recommend expenditures for laboratory equipment and construction.
Maintains contact with outside laboratories, vendors, and technical representatives concerning assigned area. Orients visitors to the laboratory.
Works independently within the boundaries of the financial and educational constraints.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma plus 1 year experience in Dental Laboratory. C.D.T. optional.
