Responsibilities

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Independently conducts daily clinical activities in the IVF laboratory at Strong Fertility Center and manages IVF laboratory data on several internal and external reporting mediums.

SUPERVISION:

Andrology and IVF Laboratory Supervisors, Director(s) of IVF and Andrology Laboratories

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Works with minimal supervision in the IVF and Andrology Laboratories at Strong Fertility Center:

  1. Assists in daily start-up (QC) and shut down of the IVF laboratory. (5%)

  2. Verifies proper labeling of patient dishes and specimens during all IVF laboratory procedures. (5%)

  3. Performs sperm processing for intrauterine insemination and IVF/ICSI, including pre- and post-wash analyses of samples using manual sperm count. (5%)

  4. Performs cryopreservation of ejaculates and surgically-retrieved sperm (PESA/TESE samples) for future use in IUI, IVF, or ICSI procedures. Completes post-thaw analyses to determine specimen suitability for insemination. (5%)

  5. Prepares dishes and media for oocyte retrievals, conventional insemination/ICSI, embryo culture, and frozen embryo transfers (FETs). Assists in pH testing of new batches of culture media. (5%)

  6. Performs transvaginal oocyte retrievals, conventional insemination (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), fertilization checks, embryo assessments, embryo transfers, trophectoderm biopsy, embryo/oocyte warming procedures, and embryo/oocyte vitrification procedures. (50%)

  7. Creates and maintains paper and electronic records for the IVF laboratory. (5%)

  8. Updates patient demographics, cycle information, and outcomes in SART online database and in Strong Fertility Center’s internal IVF/IUI databases. (5%)

  9. Assists with embryo, oocyte, and sperm inventory audits and discards. (5%)

  10. Coordinates safe transport of embryos, oocytes, and sperm between outside fertility clinics, Strong Fertility Center, and ReproTech. (5%)

  11. Monitors and responds to patient and physician inquiries directed to the REI Lab pool in the eRecord In-Basket. (5%)

  12. Completes other laboratory and administrative tasks, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Full-time Position, Weekdays Only

  • Educational Requirements: BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Technology required. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an Andrology and/or IVF lab.

  • High integrity and professional demeanor.

  • Punctual and reliable work habits.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 34.50 - $ 44.85 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
