The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) seeks a board eligible/board-certified Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist to join a dynamic and growing group of CL faculty. The position, at a senior instructor level or above, is designed to provide CL services and psychiatric consultation, both inpatient and outpatient, to the URMC Kidney and Liver Transplant programs and especially the Heart Failure, Heart Transplant, and VAD programs. Psychiatry at URMC has had a well-established presence with the Transplant programs for over 18 years. The posit ion, which will report to the Director of Transplant Psychiatry, is a career opportunity to establish or further develop expertise working with transplant populations and especially with cardiac patients while becoming an integral part of the Heart program.
URMC is the home of Engel's biopsychosocial model, and the Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Services (PCLS) are steeped in that tradition. PCLS provides inpatient consultations; proactive psychiatric consultation to several medical units; telemedicine services; it has collaborative links with various medical/surgery areas and Divisions including Transplant, Women's Health, Epilepsy, the Cancer Institute, and others; and it provides integrated care at affiliated community primary care practices.
This faculty position can include leadership opportunities within Transplant Psychiatry and CL Psychiatry. There can also be opportunity to develop research interests. The position will include clinical and didactic training of CLP fellows, psychiatry residents and medical students.
The ideal candidate has Transplant Psychiatry experience, will be able to step into an active clinical role, and is interested in working as part of a dynamic and collegial group of CL psychiatrists.
