Counsels University faculty, staff and retirees concerning University benefit programs, such as, Tuition Benefits, Life Insurance, the University Home Ownership Incentive Program and Voluntary Benefits. Processes applications for employees and dependent child tuition benefits; makes recommendations for improvements in procedures
Under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment:
Typically, responsibilities include most or all of the following, as well as other related duties.
Review and process tuition benefit applications for employees and dependent children who are eligible for a waiver at the University, in addition to, employees who attend other colleges/universities; reviews reimbursement documents (bill and grade report) before payment is made, calculates reimbursement and requests payment in HRMS (taxes employees, as applicable). Review and process tuition benefit applications for dependent children who are eligible to attend other colleges/universities. Requests checks from Accounts Payable for payment. Review Tuition Benefits Service Credit Forms for previous service.
Provides customer service to University faculty, staff and retirees in answering questions and addressing concerns related to the Tuition Benefits, Life Insurance, the University Home Ownership Incentive Program and Voluntary Benefits ; provides information based on knowledge of policies, procedures and regulations.
Processes retiree death claims, exercising independent judgment in determining benefits and advising next of kin, beneficiaries, life insurance carrier, retirement plan administrator, and, as appropriate, other benefit plan administrators and University offices. Counsels beneficiaries concerning University benefits. When applicable, sets up surviving spouses in HRMS with benefit plan coverages as appropriate. Coordinates with University departments and benefit plan administrators as needed.
Provides backup assistance to Sr. HR Assistant III, record metrics and remits monthly; provide backup for front desk, when necessary.
Assist with other duties and special projects/events as assigned
Associates degree and 3 years experience in Human Resources or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.How To Apply
