Sr Accountant

GENERAL PURPOSE:

UR Medicine Labs is the largest medical lab in Western New York, performing over 10 million patient tests per year. We are currently looking for a Financial Analyst to join our department’s finance team. The Financial Analyst will utilize multiple data sources to develop and create reports that support business decisions on the laboratory, department, and hospital leadership levels. This role is also responsible for interpreting and communicating operational and financially impactful analysis on a monthly basis.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts specialized financial analysis of monthly expenses as compared to budget and historical trends for laboratory areas. Communicates analysis to departmental lab area Supervisors, and ensures that necessary information related to the expenses is provided.

  • Compiles and or prepares reports, graphs and charts of data analyzed. Makes presentations on areas of research or analysis. Prepares conclusions, forecasts and makes recommendations based on research.

  • Analyzes and interprets data, statistics and financial information and identifies significant differences in relationships among sources of information.

  • Assists in the development and/or modification of departmental Finance policies and procedures.

  • Stays current with University and Hospital financial management policies and adapts new developments into planning, control and analytical processes.

  • As assigned, assumes responsibility for special projects involving research, planning and recommending changes. Assumes responsibility for the project, establishes time tables, activity plans and coordinates the efforts of any subordinate staff.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong Excel skills required.
