Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Director of Audiology & Speech Pathology. The Speech Pathology Licensure applicant will work as part of an interdisciplinary team and be assigned a NYS licensed and ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist clinical supervisor who will provide guidance to satisfy requirements for both licensure and completion of the ASHA Clinical Fellowship (CFY).

Supervision/Direction:

As the Speech Pathology Licensure Applicant develops the clinical skills necessary to provide services independently, direct supervision will be tapered off. The Speech Pathology Licensure applicant will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment, and education for individuals with acquired impairments in the areas of communication, cognition, and swallowing for both pediatric and adult populations (as appropriate) once the initial orientation, training and competency processes are completed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • 40%: Evaluation/assessment of multiple acquired conditions that impact communication abilities. Will design and implement an appropriate plan of care for treatment and revisions to meet a patient's individual needs

  • 40%: Provide rehabilitative services to a wide range of acquired impairments in the areas of communication, cognition, and swallowing disorders

  • 20%: Prepare clinical reports and departmental paperwork as required

Requirements:

Education/Eligibility:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited training institution. NYS interim licensure or eligibility required

Equipment/Technical:

  • Ability to operate standard office machines and office computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint). Ability to learn computer programs related to electronic medical records and charge capture/schedule systems. Basic operating knowledge of standard diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures and related test equipment/materials used in Speech Pathology. Must possess and maintain ability to pass required mandatory inĀ­ service and staff competency training, which may include PIM administration.
