Special Events Coordinator

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Assists in planning and administering conferences, seminars, social events and other official events; coordinates the facilities and services operations for such events.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general policy guidance and direction:
Assists in planning and conducting programs for persons and groups holding a University sanctioned event such as conferences, board meetings, workshops, institutes, seminars, lectures, breakfast, luncheon and dinner gatherings, other food and beverage services, tours, special and miscellaneous events, procedures and overall program elements.
Participates in the administration of programs (the degree ranging from full direction of supporting services to minor advisory service). Normally:
Supervises or directs registration.
Writes and directs the mailing of program announcements.
Coordinates and arranges with appropriate agencies for services such as housing, food service, security, travel, parking, etc.; prepares requisitions for authorization.
Arranges for personnel coverage as events, and personally follows up on this coverage as necessary.
Maintains records for future use in repeat programs.
Establishes and maintains positive relationships with those departments and individuals utilizing services of the Special Events Office; offers counseling assistance as appropriate.
May advise student groups in the planning of conferences (does not provide administrative assistance).
Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, and a minimum of 3 years in business situations requiring the need to organize activities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 23.80 - $ 33.32 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
