Using knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), perform professional accounting work in financial analysis, reporting and reconciliations of the University’s financial management systems. Provide direction to lower level accounting staff for the maintenance and operational activities of the general ledger, including journal entry processing, month-end close procedures and periodic reporting. Develop and recommend policies, procedures and process improvements to ensure the accuracy, completeness and effectiveness of accounting and financial information.
Monitors complex accounts or groups of accounts (such as plant funds, net assets in foundations, funds held in trust by others, current funds, deferred gifts, or endowment accounts): establishes accounting classifications, develops systems of controls, prepares account reconciliations and analyses necessary to ascertain integrity of accounting data, account balances and timeliness of reporting. Makes day-to-day interpretations and decisions on the accounting treatment of financial transactions
Designs financial analyses, reports and statements regarding the status of complex accounts or groups of accounts for University management, other departments, or divisional finance offices; interprets trends and prepares reports.
Takes a senior role in month-end close process and the preparation of quarterly financial statements and annual footnote disclosures in accordance with US GAAP. Performs analysis of general ledger accounts and/or financial statement balances and activity. Prepares accurate reports to support results.
Develops and recommends policies and procedures for accounting systems and financial reporting to maintain or enhance internal controls.
Assists or advises lower level accounting staff on more difficult problems and on interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
3 years of professional accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Financial Experience in University or Academic Medical Center preferred
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication skills and attention to detail required. Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment within tight deadlines.
SAAS Software, Cloud Computing, Financial Management preferre
