The Senior Revenue Cycle Manager (SRCM) drives revenue cycle results by effective management of activities that affect professional receivables, including but not limited to: Physician coding, charge capture/reconciliation, specialty-based denials resolution, and cash reconciliation for assigned department (s). In addition, the SRCM is responsible for the management of the Ophthalmology billing team (s), ensuring that metrics are met and/or exceeded. The SRCM prepares reports, analyzes data, and presents revenue cycle results to Program Administrator and Department Chair. The SRCM is required to have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all aspects of billing office operations, including principles of staff management/supervision, office workflows, billing, collection and cashiering operations, coding and compliance requirements. In addition, the SRCM must demonstrate exceptional communications, interpersonal and problem solving skills. The SRCM must have the ability to work independently, while being a collaborative team player. The Senior Revenue Cycle Manager reports dually to the Director of Revenue Cycle and the Program Administrator, and is expected to be able to balance multiple priorities.
With general direction of the Director of Revenue Cycle and the Program Administrator, with considerable latitude for initiative and judgment:
Drives departmental revenue cycle results by effectively managing assigned department(s) receivables, using trends, identifying problem areas and directing actions to resolve deficiencies. Directs denials management/resolution processes for assigned specialty. Ensures the accurate and timely processing of charges and related payments generated by physicians using expertise of third party billing regulations and healthcare mandates. Ensures that all regulatory requirements are met, and that billing is being performed in a compliant manner. Performs quality assurance monitoring to track timeliness and accuracy of posting, billing and collection activities to ensure standards are met.
Drives enterprise revenue cycle results by effectively managing centralized processes that expedite reimbursement, create operational efficiencies, and/or improve the overall patient experience. Using trends and data identify problem areas and direct actions to resolve deficiencies.
Uses knowledge and experience to analyze detailed operational and financial data for assigned department(s). Provides feedback and recommendations to ensure department(s)/functional areas meet or exceed all URMC established performance metrics relating to revenue cycle management. Documents findings and addresses performance metric improvement plan with Director of Revenue Cycle and Program Administrator, clearly defining the plan of action and accountabilities. Presents departmental performance assessments with Department Chair and Program Administrator on a monthly basis, and with individual physicians as appropriate.
Directs the activities of billing office employees under own supervision. Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, and performs disciplinary actions as necessary following department and University guidelines.
Provides a high level of problem solving and support by assisting areas of responsibility with the resolution of billing and accounts receivable issues. Ensures early problem identification and effective resolution.
Reports regularly to Director of Revenue Cycle and Program Administrator regarding financial and operational performance. Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with other Revenue Cyde Managers, physicians, Program Administrator, Director of Revenue Cycle and other colleagues, both internal and external.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience.. Master's degree, equivalent course work, or specialized experience in an appropriate field related to the assignment is desirable. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Proven experience in the Ophthalmology specialty.
Strong working knowledge of the professional billing software applications. 2-5 years billing office experience, at the management level.
