University of Rochester Research Asst Professor in Rochester, New York


The Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology has an opening for a non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor. This position is for a person with a doctoral degree in statistics/biostatistics or a related field. It involves working with an international group of pain researchers as part of the Analgesic, Anesthetic, and Addiction Clinical Trial Translations, Innovations, Opportunities, and Networks (ACTTION) public-private partnership with the Food and Drug Administration.

The candidate will work independently to manage, harmonize, and participate in collaborative analyses of large clinical trial and other clinical research databases and prepare peer-reviewed publications. He/she will also help oversee the execution of primary research studies and perform other duties as required.

The position requires a doctoral degree in statistics/biostatistics or related field. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail oriented, and possess good interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. He/she must have been responsible for publication of medical research studies in peer-reviewed journals, alone or in collaboration with others, and have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment and supervise research collaborators. The position requires experience with database management, programming, statistical analysis, and medical authorship. The position is available for 12 months initially with the possibility of renewal for one or more years depending on performance and available funding.
