The University of Rochester School of Nursing is seeking to hire one Research Associate with research interest in providing direct professional level support for health related research projects. This position is a 12 month appointment (1.0 FTE) position.
General responsibilities may include assisting the Principal Investigator in the implementation of studies, supervising study personnel, IRB submission and tracking, and coordinating all aspects of daily research operations, which involves regularly exercising technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of the project. Additional responsibilities may include a wide variety of tasks related to a project, including planning and assisting with data collection; data management and analysis; and preparation of manuscripts and presentations for dissemination of research results. This position requires familiarity with a wide variety of research methodologies, techniques, and statistical software; complex statistical analyses; quantitative and qualitative methods; writing and speaking skills; and analytical and critical thinking skills.
The candidate for this position will supervise study personnel in all involved study sites including project coordinators, and research assistants, and will provide training, monitoring, and constructive feedback to all study personnel. The candidate will oversee, carry out and coordinate human subject research activities, including helping to develop, implement, and refine protocol and strategies involving subject recruitment and retention, data collection, subject tracking as well as management and maintenance of study database and data analyses and summary. The candidate will maintain close communication with each performance site and provide each site personnel with ongoing supervision and support to ensure the timely achievement of study milestones. The candidate will also monitor each site for its compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements, implement corrective action when needed, prepare materials for IRB submission, and maintain and organize IRB materials and correspondence as well as prepare annual or final report to the NIH. The candidate will also be responsible for submitting, maintaining and updating study protocol/results periodically on the clinicaltrial.gov site, and assist the PI with the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
Doctoral degree in Health Sciences or related field; experience with nursing research or health behavior research.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong preference will be given to candidates who have experience working as a project coordinator for NIH funded research projects or experience working with children or adolescents with asthma or other chronic health conditions. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and computer skills are needed.
