The University of Rochester Medical Center is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Psychometrist within the Department of Neurology, Strong Epilepsy Center. The Psychometrist will work under the direction/supervision of a Board Certified Neuropsychologist. The Psychometrist will work with patients that span a very broad age range (i.e., 4 years old through the entire lifespan) who have epilepsy. Many patients will have neuropsychological evaluations as part of pre-surgical evaluations or to help plan for school and/or work. While the patient population primarily will be those with epilepsy, there may be opportunities periodically to see patients with other medical/neurologic conditions.
While the Psychometrist will work under the license of a Neuropsychologist in an outpatient medical setting, the position requires critical thinking skills, the ability to function independently as necessary, a high level of professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and clinical training/background in psychological assessment (neuropsychology experience preferred). This is a time-as-reported position not to exceed 17 hours per week. A majority of the work will be done on Mondays, with completion of work (e.g., scoring tests and data entry) on Tuesdays as necessary.
Primary responsibilities include:
Direct patient contact involving administration of psychological and neuropsychological measures following clinical protocols.
Independently operate and maintain testing equipment, maintain clinical files until test administration and scoring are complete, track testing supplies, and notify supervisor when new supplies need to be ordered.
We are specifically looking for candidates who are highly organized, able to effectively multitask, and effectively interact with diverse patients and staff.
Recording and making specific behavioral observations of patient's behavior during testing.
Standardized administration of neuropsychological tests, patient questionnaires, and questionnaires completed by those accompanying the patient (when applicable).
Scoring the administered measures and documenting scores for review by the Neuropsychologist
Assistance with record review.
Temporarily maintain clinical records during the testing and scoring process.
Maintain active communication with the Neuropsychologist.
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in psychology or related field plus 2 years relevant experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university preferred. At least one year of relevant experience preferred. Prior neuropsychological assessment experience preferred.
