University of Rochester Psychiatric Intensive Care Service (2-9200) - Nurse Mgr in Rochester, New York

FT position available, primarily days.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the clinical, human resource and fiscal aspects of psychiatric mental health nursing on a 22-bed PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care) inpatient psychiatric unit serving an adult patient population (ages 18-65) admitted with acute symptoms of psychiatric illness. The average length of stay is approximately 9 days. The nurse manager is a member of interdisciplinary leadership team for Adult Acute Psychiatric Services. Excellent opportunity for someone with a strong commitment to high quality patient care and working with families. At least 5 years of psychiatric nursing experience and a Master's Degree in Nursing, or current enrollment in a Master’s Degree program is required. Previous nursing management experience preferred.

Qualifications

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Manager directs all aspects of patient care, which includes managing nursing personnel and material resources in a cost-effective manner, unit planning and the initiation of innovative clinical and management practices with emphasis on retention strategies.
