Provide leadership and direction for the Medical Center’s network services group. Performs all administrative management duties in support of staff and group functions. Directs day-to-day operations, fault resolution, reporting, and recovery for networks within the Medical Center and its remote sites. Helps define the network strategy. Manages the acquisition, installation, and maintenance of the organization’s local area networks and wide area networks. Analyzes products and recommends use of new products and services to senior management. Manages LAN/WAN performance and security. Establishes and implements policies and procedures for LAN/WAN usage throughout the organization. Provide project management and / or direction for major upgrades, additions, or changes.


  • Daily management of the network group, the network operations center, and all support calls for the networks.

  • Analyzes the network and recommends upgrades/changes; assesses the organization’s current and future network needs.

  • Manages support staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Mentoring and support of the network services group Ensures project/department milestones/goals are met and adheres to approved budgets.

  • Daily interaction with other support groups (help desk, desktop support, security, etc.) as well as customers/users.

  • Reporting to management on an as-requested basis. Reports to management on progress/problems encountered with projects.

  • Leads fact gathering effort with users on network requirements or issues. Considers alternative approaches and recommends the “best” approach.

  • Maintains continuous open communication with primary users. Develops or leads development of functional specifications for network projects.

  • Develops resource and cost estimates for projects. Determines priorities with users for requests.

  • Coordinates various steps within projects identifying dependencies and impediments. Recommends alternatives to overcome obstacles.

  • Coordinates and holds project meetings when necessary.

  • Enforces technical standards and policies.

  • Serves on committees and attends meetings as requested. Attends seminars and classes along with personal learning time to gain technical and/or functional knowledge to aid the Hospital’s information needs.

  • Follows all ISD administrative standards (such as, timely time sheet preparation, filling out time-off sheets, etc.). Adheres and subscribes to the ISD Values as stated in the Values Statement.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High level of problem solving ability. Integrates and interprets data from diverse sources to find solutions to very complex problems.

  • Works with minimal direction toward predetermined long-range goals. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Determines and pursues courses of action essential in obtaining desired results. Takes calculated risks.

  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in the inability to reach crucial organizational objectives and may have prolonged effect, as well as the expenditure of substantial resources.

  • Signing responsibility.



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Sciences or equivalent; 4-5 years management level experience in a financial services setting including automated systems equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Graduate degree preferred.

  • 10-15 years’ experience in network management, project management, and high-tech environments. Experience in healthcare is also desirable.

  • Excellent understanding of both network systems and general technology, including WAN, LAN, eLAN, vLAN, wireless, VPN, load balancing, and routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF).

  • Working knowledge of primary vendors such as IBM, Cisco, and Palo Alto is a must.

  • Gigamon is desirable.

  • Experience with other local IT vendors (First Light, Crown Castle, Spectrum) is also desirable.

  • Effective/logical communication skills (oral presentation, listening, written, verbal).

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Management of technical teams.

  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundations.
