ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:
Performs all activities related to the bio-decontamination of medical supplies, maintain records for compliance and reporting, assist in the development and implementation of infection prevention measures. Ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collection of potentially contaminated medical supplies for hydrogen peroxide vapor decontamination and the redistribution of clean medical supplies
Operation of the bio-decontamination equipment
Verify equipment function and efficacy
Perform and analyze quality control measures
Record and maintain records for compliance and reporting.
Follow procedures regarding environmental safety and cleanliness
Involvement in community-wide infection prevention meetings/activities
Assist in hand hygiene and other infection prevention initiatives as needed
Expectations:
Proactively participates in regular feedback, communicating concerns, and supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives.
Completes all required mandatories: MyPath modules, Health Update, Flu Shot Compliance, on-line courses and mandatory in-services.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma and one year of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requirements:
Completion of Infection Control course within 6 months of hire.
Typical Assignments and Responsibilities:
Collection and redistribution of medical supplies for the purpose of bio-decontamination.
Promote and adhere to the protocol for the handling and segregation of soiled and clean medical supplies and Infection Prevention guidelines.
Bio-decontamination of PPE and medical supplies: This includes inspection, loading, and unloading.
Process monitoring Analysis and interpretation of quality assurance tests and readouts.
Record keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records and logs of cycle date, load contents, QA tests, inventory and other data as needed. Safe use and handling of High Level Disinfectant/Liquid Steriliant.
Customer Support: Answer phone, provide professional and timely support to customer needs.
Participate in Infection Prevention and Control quality improvement initiatives. Work with others on the Infection Prevention team to assist with collection, reporting, and analyzing data as needed.
Assist in hand hygiene promotional activities as needed.
Other duties as needed.
Functional Requirements:
Frequently push/pull up to 20 lbs. of force and infrequently push/pull greater than 20 lbs. of force.
Maintain a friendly, helpful and courteous professional manner at all times.
Promote a clean and safe environment.
