The University of Rochester School of Nursing is seeking to hire selected postdoctoral fellows who, upon successful achievement of goals during the two year fellowship, receive a direct appointment to our tenure-track faculty. This is a unique opportunity for outstanding graduates of research-intensive doctoral programs to establish and accelerate a program of research at a world-class institution. Postdoctoral fellows are paired with a faculty mentor and develop an individualized training plan.The School of Nursing is part of a state-of-the-art and research intensive Medical Center and University. Research investigators receive substantial research support and implementation assistance, especially in relocating an established program of research to the University of Rochester. The postdoctoral fellow will develop a program of independent research with potential for extramural funding and will conduct research projects in his/her area of expertise. The position requires the candidate to develop and lead grant proposals to secure extramural funding and to demonstrate a track record of scholarship as evidenced by presentation and publication research findings. The fellow will begin to teach and mentor students as well as begin to provide academic, community and professional service.
Candidates must hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in nursing and an eared research doctorate (within the past 5 years) in nursing or a related field. They must show evidence of scholarship including first-authored data-based publications and experience securing internal funding or applying for external funds in a research area with strong potential for extramural funding. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills are required. Familiarity with a variety of research methodologies, techniques, and statistical software is expected. Selection of fellows rests heavily on a strong match between the candidate and a faculty mentor.
Strong preference will be given to candidates who have had superior research training and mentoring at a top research university, including experience with managing research studies, data management and analysis. A successful candidate will have an emerging record of first-authored data-based publications and grant proposal submissions for funding. They will focus on a topic of high significance and strong funding potential.
