FT position available, Monday through Friday, No call, No nights, No weekendsResponsibilities
Clinical duties include obtaining thorough history, completing physical exam and use of critical thinking required to develop a multimodal treatment plan and assess for possible interventional spine pain procedures in collaboration with the attending physician. Procedural duties include participating in pre and post-operative management and coordination of care with attending physician, nursing and administrative staff; placing any appropriate pre and post procedural orders; providing surgical assistance during elective pain operative procedures; completing documentation efficiently and communicating with patient, referring providers and family as appropriate. The Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner demonstrates competency in the performance of operative and procedural skills. Applies principles of asepsis and infection control. Provides for appropriate positioning, prepping and draping of the patient. Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to the surgical procedure. Provides hemostasis, retraction and anatomical exposure. Performs wound closure and applies surgical dressings.Qualifications
Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.
