Operations Director, Center for Education Abroad

8 AM-5 PM; WKENDS AS NEEDED
This is a time of exciting and ambitious transformation for the Center of Education Abroad. This new Director of Operations position will report to the Assistant Dean and Director and work with a small but powerful team. The Director plays a key role in overseeing the development and delivery of new initiatives that relate to program quality, data analysis, marketing strategies to strengthen student engagement across campus, and utilize assessment techniques to propose enhancements that align with the offices vision, mission, and goals.
The ideal candidate will be someone with management experience who will successfully oversee the daily operations of the office, while facilitating a team work environment that adheres to the core values of the office. The Director should be an effective communicator and innovative leader that collaborates well with a student focused team. The candidate will have strong leadership qualities and work with a variety of campus stakeholders. As part of the leadership team the Director will be responsible for ensuring the team is held accountable for meeting individual and office goals. This position will be instrumental in providing coaching, delegating projects, identifying areas for improvement, and celebrating the successes of the office.
Director will collaborate with the leadership team to:
Provide a strong vision for strategic planning
Develop efficient and effective reports that supports data driven goals and objectives
Providing recommendations for office long and short-term goals
Implement new initiatives.
The position has the following goals and outcomes:
Successfully achieve student focused goals
Identify areas for improvement and maximize office efficiency
Lead a team of advisors towards individual and team goals through coaching and incorporating best practices
Increase awareness of education abroad offerings; increase and strengthen our student engagement
Provide up to date and year end data reports on trends, successes and area for improvements within the office.
Management and Coaching
Supervise Event and Student and Engagement Coordinator, Systems and Reporting Coordinator, and Assistant Director. Monitor, motivate, and coach these team members to achieve the following:
Development of data, programming recommendations, marketing and advising decisions.
Oversight of the maintaining the Education Abroad database including reports to internal and external stakeholders
Ensure integrity of data-mining and report building
Oversee development and distribution of marketing materials to promote programs, outreach strategies, and collaboration with departments.
Consistently assess the impact of student engagement strategies
Ensure development and implementation of advising model to include research, internships, service learning, study, field research, and experiential learning abroad.
Monitor and oversee the development of program course articulation and mapping, and identification of new programs to enhance our portfolio.
In collaboration with the leadership team primary responsibilities include: Staff development, lead weekly team meetings, address conflict, support staff professional development and trainings, and office recruitment and hiring.
Development of administrative policies and procedures: standard operating procedures
Manage the daily operations of the office
Ensure adherence to office policies
In absence of Dean respond to and triage emergencies or incidents that require immediate attention
Ensuring the consistent flow of the office: office coverage, campus event attendance, office traffic, and customer service.
Audit and verify accuracy of information on the office website and provide recommendations for new resources
Lead instructor for US Life and Culture course for incoming exchange students (fall, spring, summer)
Development of curriculum and coordination of local excursions
Chair the Special Program Selection Committee (Evans Lam, Glenn, WUN ... )
Chair Education Abroad Scholarships committee
Monitor the College student funding portal
Interpreting & Analyzing Data and Reporting
Lead data team to: prepare weekly reports, provide updates on the state of the office, and analysis of student trends, international travel and program participation.
Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
Create and reinforce policies and guidelines for effective data management, procedures for data sharing, and data collection to ensure accuracy and integrity
Responsible for timely and accurate completion of Open Doors Date and institutional member reports
In collaboration with team create and disperse varies program and office evaluations
Work with team to analyzes and interpret the website analytics
Perform Special Projects and Assignments as Requested by Assistant Dean & Director
Minimum 2 years of managing and motivating a team
Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
Flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.
Strong attention to details
Ability to organizing, prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrated consistency in meeting pressing deadlines.
Knowledge and understanding of trends and best practices in international higher education.
Preferred experience with assessment tools for programming and customer service
Training in conflict resolution or facilitating small groups a plus
Demonstrated experience in data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
Proven ability to meet or surpass goals
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word etc.). Knowledge of Terra Datta Client Systems desirable
