Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a quality improvement and/or patient safety background with strong project management skills and excellent communication skills. Collaborates with the obstetrical medical and nursing leadership at MCIC member institutions to promote a culture of patient safety and adherence to national clinical standards utilizing the principles and practice of the science of safety. Serves as a visible and recognized advocate for patient safety in clinical areas. A minimum of 3-5 years OB clinical experience in a hospital setting. Master's required. Knowledge of quality management methods and tools, demonstrates flexibility and adapts to changes in the work environment, demonstrates excellence in customer service, possesses strong computer skills; and possesses effective project management skills.

Qualifications

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Clinical Nurse Specialist influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
