University of Rochester Mobile Stroke Transport Unit - Lead RN Level IV in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Clinical duties include responding to suspected stroke calls in the community as part of an emergency medical response team, performing NIH stroke scale, documenting of vital functions of the patient and acute standard of care treatment, communicating with stroke physician via telemedicine, administration of medications. This position will function in a team-based and pre-hospital environment, working as a first responder alongside outside EMS personnel. The MSTU RN will also rotate into clinical shifts in the respective home unit within the hospital. In collaboration with the Neurosurgery Stroke Director and the MSTU Program administrator, responsibilities include reviewing and revising all transport policies, development and implementation of outreach and quality improvement programs, and reviewing all transports made by the team. The Lead will also be responsible for collection of transport data, equipment selection, and maintenance of equipment. The Mobile Stroke Unit Lead is an experienced neuroscience critical care or emergency nurse who oversees the day to day activity of the team in collaboration with the lead technologist. Applicants will have at least 3 years of high-level nursing experience and excellent communication skills. Candidate must have a sound knowledge of emergency care procedures, be able to work in high acuity situations, and possess the ability to rapidly assess and treat critically ill patients per physician protocols. ACLS, CPR certifications required. CCRN/SCRN/Advanced Neuro certifications recommended.

Qualifications

Requires a BSN or matriculation in a BSN program from an accredited Nursing Program and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have a minimum of 5 years or RN experience. This position is a member of the unit/service leadership team, demonstrates the ability to develop standards of care, unit/service goals, and objectives, and provides consultation and expertise in delivering patient care.
