Medical Technologist II
The Technologist is responsible for the timely and accurate test analysis using moderately complex methods and/or instrumentation. The Technologist needs to be detail-oriented, show the ability to think and work independently because of the complexities of our methods. He/She is also responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all laboratory policies. Exercises excellent judgement, utilizes problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Must be flexible, able to work in a team environment and strives to be an ICARE champion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Analyzes patient samples using current, moderately complex laboratory methods/instrumentation (40%).
Adheres to quality control and quality assurance protocols (10%).
Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options and manual entry (10%).
Participates in activities supporting laboratory operations, including rotation to alternate lab site (as needed), answers telephone inquiries and performing good documentation practices. (20%)
Participates in the training of other technologists, technicians and/or residents (5%).
Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed (5%).
Performs method/instrument troubleshooting as needed (5%).
Punctuality and a good attendance record.
Adherence to all University, Division and Department Policies.
Adherence to all confidentiality requirements for clinical trials and HIPPA.
Adherence to all laboratory safety procedure.
Participation in continuing education.
Reports to work at assigned UR Labs location/site.
Performs other duties as needed.
Technologists report to the Technical Specialists and Supervisors. Generally works independently, seeing guidance from laboratory supervisors, and/or Faculty.
Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
BS in Medical Technology.
BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology with at least 1 year relevant clinical laboratory experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range: $ 31.50 - $ 40.95 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
