Medical Lab Technician II

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Technician is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of patient samples, low complexity/automated test analysis and reporting of results for patient samples. He/She is also responsible

for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all laboratory policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze patient samples using current low complexity laboratory methods/instrumentation (40%)

  2. Performs quality control and quality assurance protocols (20%)

  3. Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options (20%)

  4. Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist II as needed (10%)

  5. Answers telephone inquiries (5%)

  6. Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed (5%)

Relationships/Authoriti es:

  • Technicians report to the Technical Specialists and Supervisors.

  • Generally works under the guidance of laboratory supervisors or senior technologists, Pathology residents and/or Faculty.

Education/Experience:

AAS in Clinical / Medical Technology or an equivalent education and experience.

Licensure:

Must be NYS Licensed or eligible for NYS licensure in Clinical Laboratory Technology.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 25.77 - $ 36.06 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
