Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Performs multi-stepped clerical, technical, and/or public service library activities of limited complexity utilizing the library’s online total integrated system. Supports Miner Library’s access services.
Responsibilities:
Working with independence and with limited supervision, serves faculty, students, staff, researchers, vendors, patients and their families, and the general public via phone, email, chat, or in person at the library’s main public service point by offering library and technical resources and services to support the research, instruction, patient care, and service goals of the University of Rochester.
Performs library fulfillment activities. Searches and verifies bibliographic information, and/or locates materials utilizing a variety of specialized library tools. Handles circulation of library materials, processes customer registrations, hold and transit requests, assists with circulation record and print collection maintenance.
Provides informal, impromptu technical support of library computers, scanners, printers, and photocopiers.
Assists and advises faculty and staff on the use of the Course Reserve Collection. Receives and processes faculty requests to add or remove materials to/from the collection.
Collects library’s outgoing intramural and US postal mail and transports to Medical Center Post Office. Retrieves, sorts and distributes incoming library mail.
Provides backup for opening the Library on weekdays to allow patron access to library services.
Serves on appropriate committees or groups within IIE and the University of Rochester Libraries. Attends department, committee, and general staff meetings, and workshops and training sessions.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
3-4 years relevant experience required
2 years' experience in an academic library preferred
Ability to understand specific library rules, procedures, and organization required Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy in a rapidly changing environment required
Ability to set and adjust priorities required
Working knowledge of Alma service platform preferred

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 17.64 - $ 24.71 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
