Lead Inpatient Admitting Associate

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Assists in the daily operation of the Bed Management and Decedent Affairs department in the Admission Center. Demonstrates role model behaviors, excellent customer service skills, and possess advanced knowledge departmental procedures as they relate to registration, financial screening, scheduling and bed management process. Knowledge of New York State regulations as they apply to decedent affairs. Proficient in the NYS Electronic Death Registration system. Responsibilities include shift oversight of Bed Management Decedent Affairs office employees, direction of patient registration, financial screening, scheduling, bed assignment and Death Certificate registration.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Under general direction of Manager/Director:
Supervises Admitting/Decedent Affaires office employees in the absence of Manger/Director, participates in hiring, training, evaluating and performing initial disciplinary actions as necessary following department and University guidelines.
Assists in review of Admission Center operations including registration, insurance verification, bed movement, census verification/reconciliation, death certificate registration, NYS electronic death registration system, Funeral Director processes for retrieval of decedent remains.
Maintains data base for Decedent Affairs of Funeral Director pickups.
Maintains staff schedule to ensure proper staffing for all areas of Bed Management and Decedent Affairs.
Assists in interview process for new candidates, participates in process improvement plans, assists in conducting employee evaluations. Assists in the onboarding and training of new staff.
Monitors own performance as assigned tasks and evaluates work of subordinates to assure adherence to policies and procedures.
May serve as department liaison to other University departments and groups on matters related to business functions. Ie education of Residents/Advance Practice Providers on Death Certificate process. Participates in Lean team initiative to improve processes.
Through readings, meetings and classes, maintains thorough knowledge of patient movement, patient registration system, electronic and death registration system. Communicates that knowledge to office staff, faculty, and others as appropriate.
Fills in as necessary in absence of Bed Manager/Decedent Affairs office employees.
REQUIREMENTS :
Associates degree and 2 years of related relevant experience in business office operations or auditing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical terminology and excellent communication/customer service skills required.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $ 19.00 - $ 24.70 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
