This is a senior level technical position within the Loiselle Laboratory in the Center for Musculoskeletal Research. The job consists of laboratory work using complex genetic mouse models, cell culture systems and molecular biology techniques to understand tendon biology and healing. This position requires prior experience with mouse handling (mating, weaning, etc.), mouse recovery surgery, tissue harvest and sample processing (preparation of mouse tissues for histology and biomechanical analyses), molecular biology skills (PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, etc.), cell culture skills (mammalian cell culture, transfection), experience in data analysis/interpretation, excellent organizational skills, careful attention to detail, and experience supervising staff . Hours of the position are 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday (flexible), work on limited weekends may be required. More information on the Loiselle Lab is available at:

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates, and reviews work of lower-classified technical staff in the lab (20%)

  • Trains laboratory personnel relevant techniques including rodent survival surgery, tissue harvests, image analysis and immunofluorescence (15%)

  • Active management of laboratory protocols, inventory, and mouse colony (20%)

  • Plans and conducts experiments related to the molecular basis of tendon healing, including designing or creating new experimental techniques and procedures as needed. (20%)

  • Maintenance of a detailed lab notebook with experimental detail, methods, data compilation and data analysis and interpretation included. (10% effort)

  • Evaluates data and prepares presentations for national and local meetings (15% effort)


    Associate's degree in appropriate discipline plus 7-8 years specialized work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
