University of Rochester Laboratory Technician II (S) in Rochester, New York
Full Time 40 hours Grade 075 Urology M&D;
8 AM-5 PM; OCC WKENDS/HOL
The candidate should perform engineering work requiring full professional competency with a thorough knowledge of a special field of engineering and a good background in related fields.
Under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment and action:
Utilize 3-D printing design software (CAD) to design anatomically correct models of human organs with surrounding structures relevant to the simulated operative procedure. The candidate should have appropriate knowledge of various CAD software (i.e. solid works, mesh mixer, etc.).
The candidate must also have adequate knowledge of operating a 3-D printer. The printer will be used for printing various objects including injection molds. The candidate will also be required to maintain the 3D printer in cases of simple mechanical malfunctions (e.g. printer head malfunction).
The candidate will also be responsible for mechanical testing of the models to confirm their realism.
May assist in advising student research projects.
Participates in advancing the models created for surgical simulation and assists in the writing of research publications.
Associate's degree in appropriate discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline with engineering experience.
Knowledge of 3D modeling software required to create the geometry of the organs and individual organ features.
