University of Rochester Kidney Transplant Coordinator - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Rochester, New York


FT position available M-F, with some rotating call (call taken from home/setting up kidney transplant)


Exciting position in the solid organ transplant program. The focus of this position is on managing the evaluation and pre-transplant phase for potential kidney transplant recipients. Establishing good rapport with patients, referring physicians and dialysis centers is key to this position. The ability to work in a fast paced environment while juggling multiple responsibilities is paramount. Strong clinical skills and the ability to provide comprehensive education to patients is required. This is a detail oriented position that requires a great deal of time on the phone working through the evaluation process and surgical preparation with patients. Candidate must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working in a dynamic multidisciplinary setting. Attendance at department and program weekly and monthly meetings is expected. Involvement in committees, developing and maintaining policy and procedures is encouraged. The candidate will serve as a resource to internal and external health care providers. The coordinator is responsible for adherence to hospital and nursing policies, procedures and practice standards, education of patients and staff, assurance of service excellence, completion of state and hospital required reviews of practice and participation in performance and quality improvement and other activities as required.


Nurse Practitioner

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Physician Assistant

Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
