University of Rochester IUOE Stationary Boiler Opr in Rochester, New York
Full Time 40 hours Grade 032 Util & Energy Mgmt-Fac & Svcs
ROTATING 12 HOURS SHIFTS: 7AM-7PM/7PM-7AM; E/O WKEND; ROTATING HOLS
Under general supervision and with moderate latitude for independent judgment operates and assists in maintenance of boilers and auxiliary equipment which produce required steam pressure for the River Campus, Medical Center and Chilled Water Plant. Maintain proper operating conditions in stationary coal (stoker) and oil fired boilers auxiliaries.
Requires high school education (preferably trade school) plus two to three years work experience as a steamfitter or plumber's assistant or apprentice or related experience in a powerhouse where similar equipment is involved. Requires good judgment, good physical condition, and the willingness to work in an atmosphere where more than normal dirt, dust, and heat are present. Prefer candidate who possesses a third class Stationary Engineers' license. May be required to assist with coal handling, cleaning and maintenance work.
