Gathers information for analyzing and interpreting, and disseminating data regarding third party and regulatory issues, inventory trends and pharmacy system issues. The compliance operations pharmacy systems analyst works closely with other analysts and the senior information analyst to assist pharmacy staff and pharmacy administration with necessary regulatory training. Identifies opportunities to improve third party and regulatory compliance using various techniques including quarterly on site assessments and utilizing professional communication skills to report findings and recommendations to necessary parties.

Specific Responsibilities:

Under general direction with supervision the Compliance Operations Pharmacy Systems Analyst:

30% Assist s in the completion of specialized quarterly audits of each pharmacy using developed criteria to determine potential risk if audited by third parties or regulatory agencies. Performs utilization audits comparing sales and purchase for ambulatory pharmacies as defined in criteria. Analyzes data and prepares written report of audit findings for pharmacy manager, associate director and senior information analyst. Maintains high level of integrity and overall knowledge and follow-up with sites to ensure any necessary changes are incorporated. Communicates and advises others of audit criteria during monthly meetings.

5% Assist with monitoring 340B compliance of the Ambulatory Pharmacies, including pharmacy purchases. Will also provide oversight and analysis as well as necessary training and remediation for pharmacy staff in relation to purchases.

10% In knowledgeable in best practices in areas of third party, NY Medicaid, Medicare, regulatory compliance and controlled substances to new pharmacy staff. Assists in monitoring of internal controls, policies and procedures that ensure best practices are being executed. Assists outpatient pharmacy administrator with Fraud, Waste and Abuse requirements to prevent non-compliance.

5% Gathers information by use of questionnaires, interviews, reviewing journals and reports, and by onsite review of pharmacy records and documentation. Gathers information from regulatory agencies and officials. Maintains records and prepares reports and recommendations based upon analysis of information gathered. Maintains contact with supervisors as work progresses for review of work and to obtain guidance as necessary.

15% Works on projects to ensure timely completion as assigned by the Senior Information Analyst or Associate Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy services, while working alongside other analysts.

15% Keeps informed of changes in regulatory and third party requirements as related to audits by interacting with certain agencies, regulatory agencies and third party commercial payers and is considered the subject matter expert. Makes independent decisions as to importance of findings and uses independent judgment to ascertain how information gathered applies to current projects. Final decision is approved by the Associate Director.

10% Provides audit oversight of physical inventory procedures twice yearly at the Ambulatory Pharmacies.

10% Audits compliance for Medicare Part B DMEPOS accreditation, including but not limited to: reporting required metrics to management, maintaining policy and procedures, assists with on-site survey by accreditation agency.

Performs other related duties as required.


  • Bachelor's degree with major course work in social or technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Pharmacy experience preferred.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred

  • Lean Practitioner Certification within one year of hire
