The Human Subject Researc h Coo rdin ator Trainee in the Program for Tran s l ational Brain Mapping coordinates all aspects of Human Sub j ects Research w ithin the program. This includes conducting pre-operative and post operative MRI and neurop syc hological testing in neuro s urger y patients , as we ll as s i mi l ar studies in stroke pat i ents as part of an ongoing N IH funded proj ect. In a ddition , the technician ma y assist w ith cognitive te st in g during awake cran i otomies in coordination with re search facu lt y and clinical staff in the Department of Ne uro surge r y. This ro l e w ill be ba se d at the University of Rochester Center for Advanced Brain Imagin g and Ne ur op hy s iology (CABIN), and work closely with attending and res id ent neuro s urgeons , n euro l ogists, technician s , basic s cienti sts, and s ta ff across UR Neuromedic in e.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruits , consents, and sc h edules research su bj ect visits for The Program for Translational Bra in Mapp in g , i n accordance with study pro t oco l s . Wo rk s with multidisciplinary team s to coord in ate resources requir e d to conduct study procedures for approp ri a t e management of s tudy s ub j ects.
Conducts r esearc h s ubject visits for The Program for Translationa l Brain Mapping in accordance w ith study protocol s. Res earc h v i s its can i nclude MRI sc anning (at CABIN) or at Strong Memoria l Hosp ital , administration and scoring of behaviora l / neurops yc holo gica l studies , and ass i s ting wit h l anguage and motor mappin g during awake brain surger ie s .
Manages t h e regu l atory deta il s for assigned research s tudie s and r egistries, includin g study protocol s , co nsent forms , l ogs , cert i fications , l abs , IRB document s , and applicable communication.
Serves as the liai s on between cross-functiona l research team , study sponsors , and IRB to facilitate communic a tion , resolves issues , and enhance collaboration.
Demonstrate s accountabi li ty for initial and ongoing learning related to clinical research s tudies , including attending research team meetings , certification trainin g, and engagement with scientific qu es ti ons of the research.
Assists Pls with literatur e searches , grant submiss i ons , and reading /e diting documents ( IRB , Grants, Manuscripts).
Other tasks and job duties as assigned.
A sso ciat e ' s degree required
Demonstrated experience and interest in human subject r esearch , or an equivalent combination of education and e x perience required .
Interest or experience with neurologi c patients preferred
E xc ellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required
Facility with word processing and data spreadsheet software Matlab , Python , BASH , and / or R programming languages preferred
