Health Project Counselor
The Community Outreach Coordinator at Mt. Hope Family Center supports multiple federally funded research projects in recruitment, retention, and community engagement activities. The Community Liaison role entails: (a) extensive time spent in the community to locate, engage, and enroll prior participants in new research studies, (b) phone call and mail outreach to participants to present research opportunities, (c) transportation of participants to and from the Center for research visits, (d) tracking and reporting on recruitment progress, (e) engagement with community partners to facilitate recruitment, (f) transportation of biological samples to URMC from the Center.
Drives in the community to last known addresses of participants to drop off recruitment materials, describe study opportunities, and engages potential participants.
Makes phone calls and mailings to study participants to engage them in research studies.
Provides transportation of participants to and from the Center for research visits.
Tracks recruitment progress. Reports on recruitment to study team and collaborate with team to meet study recruitment goals.
Engages with community agencies to facilitate partnerships. Identifies and cultivates new opportunities for partnerships and liaises with existing program partners.
Transports biological samples to URMC from the Center.
Other duties as assigned
High School education or an equivalent accomplishment in literacy, arithmetic skills, knowledge of social and government organization, etc. Some positions may require facility with a foreign language. Some employment or other experience which has demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and to accept responsibility for confidential and sensitive matters. Successful completion of in-service orientation, on-the- job training and/or a complementary observed experience term, as applicable.
Candidate must have deep roots or shared life experiences within the
Rochester community. Experience in working with an urban, underserved population required.
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Basic computer literacy required. Basic Microsoft Word Skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters, check spelling, and sort, save, open, and organize electronic files. Ability to learn multiple database programs required.
Ability to work independently and within collaborative teams. Deeply values and understands the importance of science and research participation. Demonstration of empathy and acceptance of a variety of clients, and the ability to work one-to-one in a supportive, nurturing relationship must be demonstrated. The candidate must demonstrate sound critical judgment in recognizing high-risk situations and respond, based on training and education, in ways that minimize risk.
A willingness to work within the community and to transport clients is required. Must have a registered automobile and requisite insurance as well as a current driving record that reflects UR safer driver guidelines to transport clients.

Pay Range: $ 15.75 - $ 21.26 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
