The Department of Art and Art History invites applicants for a Gallery Manager and Instructor to begin July 1, 2023. This is an initial one-year appointment with the possibility of continuation. The Manager/Instructor will direct the programming for two galleries, mentor and direct a co-curricular student organization and teach two gallery practicum courses per year.The ideal candidate will bring a mix of exhibition design, student mentorship and pedagogical expertise to the position.
The Gallery Managerwould work in concert with the Department of Art and Art History (AAH), the student organization, Wilson Commons Student Activities (WCSA), the Hartnett Advisory Board, and a graduate assistant from the Graduate program in Visual and Cultural Studies. Themanagerwould mentor students through WCSA, teach one (low-enrollment) gallery practicum per semester, and oversee the exhibition schedule and execution of both Hartnett and Frontispace Galleries.
Candidates for the position should have both gallery and teaching experience and could include recently graduated MFA, PhD, or established artists who demonstrate an ability to collaborate across administrative and disciplinary divisions. This is a full-time position withhealth benefits as well as discretionary funds to support and promote teaching and programming.
