Functional Analyst Lead - UKG Dimensions

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Functional Analyst Lead provides leadership and expertise and works closely with their peer group in support of their assigned area or function. The analyst lead is responsible for group activities that develop requirements and design documentation along with use cases, based on user input. The lead analyst documents and evaluates work flow and business process analysis, data configuration and testing strategies and offers input to a team that supports planning and implementation of new systems or functions and ensures that application maintenance and upgrades are delivered with quality. The lead analyst delivers and implements new systems or functions and is responsible for administration, maintenance, and security compliance of University business systems. This position will focus on a combination of UKG Dimmensions functionalities include Time & Labor, Absence, Leave Accruals, Attendance and Analytics

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supporting the assigned area or function:

  • Works independently providing and leading business analysis and support services for non-production and production environments, including requirements analysis, configuration, testing and implementation.

  • Answers end user requests, including troubleshooting, break/fix support, researching and solving problems, and serves as a final escalation point on complex issues, and provides on call support after hours as defined by the application support requirements.

  • Provides direction to technical and functional personnel and handling escalations or more complex / interdisplinary requests for support services, including validation of system fixes, enhancements, interfaces, reports, configurations, upgrades, regulatory updates and implementation of new modules and features.

  • Maintain data integrity by creating and executing queries, reports and/or SQL, analyzing data and identifying system improvements.

Project work / enhancements:

  • Works with, and sometimes leads, user communities to understand and document business requirements, translates requirements into configurable software components and rules to solve complex business problems.

  • Leads design sessions and designs complex enhancements to systems or functional services fulfilling user requirements and goals, including creation of functional specifications, design diagrams, file and record layouts, page design, user interfaces and/or navigation.

  • Completes assigned application configuration or development deliverables, and leads teams in the completion of their assigned deliverables.

  • Actively participates in, and leads, system design reviews and code/configuration walkthroughs.

  • Develops solution documentation to be used by end users.

  • Actively participates in, and leads, the evaluation and execution of testing new procedures and software. Works closely with, and leads, functional and technical testers to prepare test plans, test data and complete integrated testing.

  • Actively participates in, and sometimes leads, user community events to promote and communicate project goals, timeframe and high-level changes and conduct training. Is recognized as a subject matter expert in their functional area of responsibility.

  • Actively participates in, and sometimes leads, smaller systems projects or enhancements, ensuring delivery upon assigned tasks in alignment with project plans and estimates.

  • Sometimes prepares project plans and budgets for clients based upon scope of the initiative.

Develops and leads team assignments to improve the work product:

  • Actively participates, and leads, regular team retrospective events with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Promotes, and leads, the identification, recommendation and delivery of improvement opportunities/best practices that improve the system solution, user or team productivity.

  • Promotes and demonstrates the sharing of knowledge, provides cross-training, peer support and leads team meetings.

  • Actively participates in, and leads, the development of Business Continuity Plans/Procedures

  • Actively participates in, and sometimes leads, the estimation and planning of future work plans.

  • Sometimes leads coordination of communications to the user community which document and enhance business processes and provide supporting documentation.

  • Develops, reviews and approves procedures used to maintain applications, system documents and programs.

Professional Growth:

  • Maintains a deep and broad knowledge of their assigned functional area, University policies and procedures, related best practices, regulations, changes in relevant federal and state laws, issues and developments, and related technologies

  • Grows knowledge beyond functional area of responsibility into related areas business and systems

  • Actively participates in, and may lead, external function specific communities of practice, gaining and sharing functional knowledge. Is recognized as a subject matter expert within these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Data Science or Engineering required

  • 4-5 years of related experience or 2-3 years in a supervisory capacity required;

  • or 5 to 8 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred

  • or an equivalent combination of education training and/or experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience in higher education field strongly preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required

  • Proven track record executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results required

  • Ability to distill technical information into succinct and digestible information for a broad (non-technical) audience required

  • Strong understanding of system/application administration activities required

  • Experience with project management from planning through implementation preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 65,000 - $135,000 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
