Responsibilities

Summary

Experiential Facilitators at Simon support instruction through managing and participating in experiential learning integrations. Alongside professors, instructors, and other facilitators, they will act out case studies, participate in grading, and coach teams. Important qualities include communication, analytical, and pedagogical skills. Experiential Facilitators are also able to engage with the content and participate in the classes they help instruct.

Responsibilities

Facilitate experiential integrations in Simon coursework

  • Coordinate with Instructors, Sr. Facilitators, and other Facilitators to act as various personalities (e.g., clients, suppliers) within real-life case simulations

  • View prepared presentations from student teams and provide real-time Question & Answer sessions as case-related personality

Evaluate and grade student and team performance

  • Learn grading rubrics to evaluate student performance

  • Grade student team presentations and communications based on rubrics

  • Provide critical feedback to teams on strengths and weaknesses during interactions

  • Work with instructional team to develop and improve grading rubrics used for evaluation

Coaching and guidance for students

  • Engage with students, and provide feedback based on your personal experience (i.e. “break character” and provide coaching)

  • Identify broad team dynamics and work with instructional team to integrate themes into instruction and/or support teams as required

Onboarding, Training, and Coordinating Experiential Facilitators

  • Training and onboarding at beginning of each course

  • Attending/viewing class sessions as needed to learn relevant material

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree, preferably MBA or MS in Analytics or related fields

  • 3–5 years of Business experience

  • Advanced technical/office skills, including ability to work within Microsoft suite and on various communication and software platforms (e.g. Zoom, Blackboard)

Personal Characteristics

A successful Experiential Facilitator will have the right blend of proficiencies in and interest/ability to grow and develop following characteristics:

  • Knowledge and experience of the context of business problems and challenges, including working with clients

  • Broad understanding of analytics and data and how they apply to various business contexts and challenges (not ability to do)

  • Ability to act as fictional characters within case studies and other experiential integrations

  • Experience, knowledge, and ability to coach teams through interpersonal team dynamics and client communication skills

Expectations

  • Approximately 30–50 hours total will be distributed across 8 weeks of course time and will vary week-to-week based on the course schedule.

  • Live case meetings with teams—approximately 3–5 evenings. There are four total cases in the class.

  • Ad hoc meetings with instructional team to brief/debrief integrations

  • Grading—flexible grading timing of presentation videos, approximately 3–4 hours per case
