Responsibilities

Will assess, design/develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for the Emergency Observation Department (OBS and G16) assuring all regulatory agencies requirements are met. Will provide educational resource, leadership and PFCC support for Emergency Observation services. Must have a strong clinical base as well as an interest/background in quality assurance, care management, orientation, continuing education and safety. Main areas of focus will be the Emergency Observation Nurse Residency, LPN Residency classes, orientation, in-services, competency development, documentation and clinical improvement projects. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills is a must. Emergency Observation or Med-Surg experience preferred and Masters required.

Qualifications

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Clinical Nurse Specialist influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
