Responsibilities and Job Requirements :

General Purpose:

Designs, plans, conducts, and evaluates competency-based education, onboarding, and training for the organization-wide Quality Institute UR Medicine (UPP), Pursuing Excellence Initiative (PEI), and Continuous Improvement education programs. Formulates educational plans and training processes. Functions as the owner of UPP and PEI education. The Educator is responsible for the needs assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of a number of diverse educational programs and initiatives. Specific Responsibilities:

Under general guidance and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative:

Quality Improvement Educational Programming

  • Establishes and oversees a progressive education program for UPP, PEI, and other Quality Institute and Operations Excellence programs, including qualityimprovement principles, leadership development, and teaming. The overall objective of educational programming is to advance thedevelopment and outcomes of inter-professional teams working on quality improvement.

  • Designs and delivers a progressive educational program for Continuous Improvement to a general audience across the institution.Oversees the coaching of trainees working on Continuous improvement projects to earn their Continuous Improvement certification.

  • Collaborates with a diverse self-directed work team representing the Quality Institute, Operations Excellence, and Learning and Development. Initiates andparticipates in networking and benchmarking efforts. Functions as a representative of the Hospital in these relations and with otherorganizations.

Educational Needs Assessment

  • Identifies the educational needs of the UPP, PEI, QI Fellowship, and other programs participants and those in Continuous Improvement trainingfor a general audience.

  • Makes recommendations regarding training plans to leadership based on the needs assessment results.

Curriculum Development and Delivery

  • Designs and implements process improvement principles, leadership development, and teamwork training for the audiences listed below.Training sessions range from one-hour sessions to two-day retreats, online or in-person. May deliver the training or identify a subject matterexpert to do so:

  • PEI Leaders

  • PEI Alumni

  • UPP Coaches

  • UPP Leaders

  • UPP Team members

  • UR Medicine Leader Fellows - Quality Improvement Track

  • Continuous Improvement- General Audience

  • Utilizes adult learning principles in various educational modalities, including in-class, online, simulation, and other dynamic resources.

  • Aligns training with Quality Institute objectives and goals.

Curriculum Evaluation

  • Evaluates educational activities to meet Quality Institute and Operations Excellence objectives and goals.

  • Adjusts training based on evaluation results in an effort to optimize the impact of training.

Subject Matter Expert

  • Serves as an expert resource on team development, leadership development, DISC, and workplace learning and consults with team leaders asneeded.

  • Acts as a change agent to facilitate culture change in the areas of quality improvement, teaming, and leadership development. Fosters overallteam development through training.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Education, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Nursing, Education, or a related field and 4 years of training experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Clinical experience preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 62,200 - $ 93,300 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
