Responsibilities

General Purpose:

The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Learning Specialist is a key supporting position for diversity and inclusion initiatives and learning development at URMC’s Office of Equity and Inclusion. This position creates and delivers learning and development programs at URMC that develop and enculturate competencies which foster a culture of inclusiveness. EDI Learning Specialists will have content expertise pertaining to EDI topics, experience teaching adult learners, and a high degree of professionalism and emotional intelligence. Utilizes expertise in EDI competency areas including, but not limited to: systems of oppression, intersectional identities, anti-racism, sexual and gender diversity, gender equity, the history of medical racism, anti-ableism, universal design, combating implicit bias in the workplace, social identity theory, cultural humility, social justice, social determinants of health, horizontal violence, and addressing microaggressions.

Specific Responsibilities:

EDI Learning Experience Delivery

  • Works collaboratively with other Learning Specialists to operationalize educational strategies (25%)

  • Delivers in-person, online, and hybrid learning experiences and trainings for health care professionals and URMC employees (25%)

Administration

  • Contributes to the development and enhancement of information systems to support URMC EDI educational activities.

  • Researches, gathers, organizes, and summarizes data for OEI leadership

  • Develops and presents reports, proposals, publications, and presentations as needed.

  • Attends and participates in meetings and conferences.

EDI Learning Experience Development

  • Evaluates and refines existing curricula and teaching strategies for EDI learning

  • Tailors educational content and approach based upon learners’ needs and feedback

Participates in Needs Assessments to determine the appropriate educational approach for a given constituent group

Provides expert input regarding EDI considerations for forms, workflows, policies, and organizational processes.

Serves on committees and workgroups to improve health care delivery for minoritized populations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field required;

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 2-3 years of experience in education, training or orientation and related consulting experience required;

  • Experience in the health care environment preferred;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 4+ years of experience in adult education preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory, pedagogy of the oppressed, theater of the oppressed, educational simulation, workshop facilitation, online learning, didactic learning, clinical education, flipped classroom, or instructional design preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess learning experiences and iterate content based upon feedback preferred.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required;

  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills required;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.

  • Certified diversity trainer or professional diversity certification preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 62,200 - $ 93,300 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
