Full Time 40 hours Grade 053 Psychiatry EAP




General Purpose:

The EAP Counselor provides support services to individuals utilizing Employee Assistance Program services. Clinical duties include intake assessment and evaluation, short-term treatment, crisis intervention, and follow-up, as appropriate. Non-clinical duties include developing and providing employee orientations, supervisory trainings and wellness presentations as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

Under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment:

Performs intake and counseling interviews with clients seen at or referred to the Employee Assistance Program.

Provides group interventions as needed.

Monitors clients who have been referred to other resources and acts as liaison between the University contract agency or other resources.

Documents all client care activities and interventions in client's chart in compliance with department policy.

Develops and presents wellness programs, trainings, and employee orientations to internal departments and external agencies.

Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with community agencies which may be helpful to clients.

Participates in Departmental and programmatic diversity presentations.

Participates in on-call activities of the EAP as needed.

Performs other duties as required.


Master’s degree in a mental health profession and 2-4 years of relevant counseling experience including but not limited to addictions counseling, assessment and treatment; prefer Certified Employee Assistance Professional; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
