FT position available (40 hours).

Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with our team of pulmonologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and clerical staff as we develop new programs to help patients with a variety of pulmonary diseases including bronchiectasis and associated mycobacterial disease. The ideal candidate will help us organize and develop this new multidisciplinary program and also have an interest in obtaining specialized education and training in bronchiectasis management and respiratory therapy. Primary responsibilities include obtaining a comprehensive medical history and performing a physical examination of patients with airways disease and working with a team to develop a differential diagnosis, appropriate diagnostic work-up and organize a comprehensive treatment plan. Additional responsibilities may include the initial and on-going subspecialty pulmonary care of general patients seen our ambulatory practice. Excellent clinical skills and ability to provide clear and concise recommendations to our patients and referring providers are necessary. Appropriate documentation in the medical record and timely response to telephone and MyChart inquiries are expected. The candidate will work closely with a defined subgroup of pulmonary physicians to support ambulatory care in the Pulmonary & Critical Care Division. An initial period of orientation and learning will be included to allow familiarity with specialty content and practice. Appropriate volume targets will be implemented in a graded fashion over time. This position requires excellent clinical, communication, and collaborative skills. Candidate must be NYS NP or PA licensed. Experience within ambulatory setting is preferred, however motivated new graduates or candidates with acute care experience will also be considered.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Physician Assistant

Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
