The University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a Director of the Center for Health and Technology (CHeT)
The Center for Health and Technology (CHeT) is a research organization that designs and conducts multi-center clinical research studies and trials. The mission of CHeT is to accelerate research by enabling anyone, anywhere to receive care and participate in research, leading to advances that improve the health of millions of individuals. Since its inception over 30 years ago, CHeT has supported over 130 clinical studies, conducting pivotal trials leading to 7 FDA-approved treatments for Neurological diseases. CHeT partners span the globe and include leading academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, technology firms, not-for-profit foundations, advocacy groups, and the federal government. Over the past 10 years, CHeT has pioneered decentralized and digital studies, connecting to research participants throughout the country and conducting thousands of virtual research visits. In addition, CHeT has used smartphones, wearable sensors, video analytics, and “invisibles” to capture objective, frequent, real-world data.
The Director will oversee all projects and initiatives across our large, multi-faceted, innovative academic research organization. The Director will be responsible for providing strategic guidance to project teams, discussing collaborations with potential sponsors, and hiring and vetting candidates for other Director-level positions. The Director will also work with University leadership, including the CEO/Dean of the Medical Center, to lead transformative initiatives across the broader URMC and UR ecosystem.
The next Director will be a guiding hand for CHeT’s continued growth, building on our tradition “to do the unprecedented” by advancing translational innovation to improve health. The continued evolution of CHeT will build on this experimental therapeutic foundation and be shaped by the vision of the next Director. Areas of opportunity include global health, local population health, digital health, health equity research, regulatory science, and dissemination and implementation research.
The Director will report to the Dean of the Medical Center and will have an academic appointment within the Department of the candidate’s medical or research expertise (EG: Neurology, Medicine, etc.).
Ideal candidates for the Director will be national leaders in experimental therapeutics with a demonstrated track record in making innovative advances in the field. This leader will also have a doctoral degree from an accredited institution qualified for a rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor.
The Director should have the experience to establish a strategic vision and lead a large, multi-faceted, innovative academic research organization.
