Responsibilities

R eports to the President and works especially closely with the Chief of Staff. Oversees special projects in support of institutional priorities, institutional planning, and leadership meetings. W orks closely with University senior administrators and a wide range of key external and internal constituencies. Conducts research and prepares analytical reports to brief the President on emergent issues. Requires ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented, high-visibility environment where the work is sensitive or confidential.

Primary Duties

  • Leads or helps manage special projects or committees, such as those in support of institutional planning and other broad University initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to developing and monitoring project timelines, conducting research, drafting project materials, creating and implementing appropriate mechanisms for project communications, gathering data, and ensuring materials are archived. 35%

  • Gathers data and prepares analytical and evaluative reports; prepares or coordinates preparation of materials for meetings (agenda, meeting minutes, reports, and other items), presentations, speeches, publications, or classes. Drafts or handles responses to correspondence and other inquiries to the President. 35%

  • Participates with the President and other senior officers in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution. 15%

  • Represents the President’s Office as liaison to internal and external groups dealing with wide range of concerns and issues. 10%

  • Attends University Cabinet and other senior leadership meetings as requested and responsible for meeting notes. 5%

  • Handles other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Master’s or doctoral degree preferred. At least five years of progressively responsible work experience. Must have excellent project management, organizational, computer, data, and interpersonal skills. Requires good problem-solving, writing, research, and multi-tasking skills as well as the ability to adjust to changing priorities while remaining attentive to deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Requires team-oriented, positive approach and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies.
