Dental Aide

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the general direction of the Licensed Lead Dental Assistant, performs a variety of clinical and clerical tasks in support of clinical care activities in a dental outpatient environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains inventory of equipment, instruments and supplies. Assists with replacements/repairs. Maximizes room utilization through inventory, stocking, cleaning of operatories, and daily preparation of dental units. Maintains cleanliness of waiting room.

  • Anticipates and prepares equipment, material, and supply needs in consideration of patient/procedure complexity in support of timely and efficient clinic operations and provider schedules.

  • Contacts patients to schedule/reschedule patient appointments. Maintains accurate demographic information in the scheduling system.

  • Notifies of patient arrival and escorts patients through the clinic. Provides special assistance for non-ambulatory patients. Follows standard clinical safety protocol for Patient Identification Verification.

  • Enters patient data into the electronic medical record. Reviews discharge instructions with patient as prepared by provider.

  • Implements standard infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene and surface decontamination, in accordance with EIOH infection prevention policy.

  • Performs basic dental laboratory procedures such as model pouring for dentures and partials.

  • Collects data for quality improvement/departmental studies. Supports and assists in research as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or High School student in good academic standing required

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.

  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred

  • Valid work permit required

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 15.00 - $ 20.25 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
