Decontamination Tech I

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Performs all activities related to the bio-decontamination of medical supplies, maintains records for compliance and reporting and assists in the development and implementation of infection prevention measures.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collects and redistributes medical supplies for the purpose of bio-decontamination. Promotes and adheres to the protocol for the handling and segregation of soiled and clean medical supplies and Infection Prevention guidelines.

  2. Bio-contaminates PPE and medical supplies, including inspection, loading and unloading.

  3. Maintains accurate and detailed records and logs of cycle date, load contents, QA tests, inventory and other data as needed.

  4. Provides professional and timely support to customer needs, including answering phones.

  5. Promotes safe use and handling of High-Level Disinfectant / Liquid Sterilant.

  6. Conducts process monitoring analysis and interpretation of quality assurance tests and readouts.

  7. Participates in Infection Prevention and Control quality improvement initiatives. Works with others on the Infection Prevention team to assist with collection, reporting, and analyzing data as needed. Assists in hand hygiene promotional activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. No previous work experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to follow detailed instructions; Strong communication skills; Strong customer service skills.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 15.00 - $ 19.86 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
