Administers, implements, and supports one or more Database or BI Platforms utilized within the organization.

This position will interact with multiple development phases of large projects for the Medical Center including, but not limited to Clinical, Financial, Quality, Regulatory and Operations to insure data intuitive presentation designs are understandable and provides a rich user experience. The position will also be responsible for administrating the platforms Data Management Platforms for system uptime, performance and application upgrades. Additional responsibilities include role-based security design, usage and improvement of processes and controls governing these applications. Assignment of additional projects and requests to perform analysis and programming addressing challenging tasks can be assigned as needed.


Environment Configuration

  • Helps create upgrade and project run plans

  • Implements run plans

  • Communicates to end users regarding system changes

  • Communicates with vendors and users planned maintenance downtimes

  • Documents processes and workflows for team knowledge base

Server/System Administration

  • Understands and learns EMR workflows to translate between the transactional systems and the data repository

  • Executes daily System Management and Monitoring on one or more of the following systems:

  • I2B2 (Research Support Tool) including package deployment, code modification to front end (Java)

  • Denodo Virtualization Platform

  • Decision Support systems administration (Performance Analytics)

  • Tableau (BI Tool- System and License Support)

  • SAP BOE (BI Tool- System Support and Daily Job Monitoring)

  • Epic Clarity, Epic Caboodle Epic SlicerDicer ETL Administration

User Support

  • Serves as an application and technical resource for specific systems, including coordination of updates and managing change control process and documentation

  • Maintains continuous open communication with primary users and project teams throughout implementation

  • Actively participates in application project meetings with users; contributes to and participates in design changes

  • Assists Senior Specialist Applications Engineer with requests and/or components of larger projects, including appropriate documentation and providing status reports

Security and Provisioning

  • Works with AIM counterpart to ensure provisioning standards and processes are followed

  • Adds and removes users from systems as requested and validates if the request is within business standards

  • Performs periodic audits on request systems access and usage

    Problem Resolution

  • Responds promptly to all issues and concerns, keeping in mind the computing environment supports a user community that requires access to critical patient care and business information 24 hours a day, 7 days per week

    Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required ;

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 3-4 years of related experience required ;

  • 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity preferred ;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Business analysis and system support experience preferred .

  • Must have an understanding of relational data bases and star schemas preferred;

  • Experience in working with ticket systems and an understanding of priorities and SLA's preferred ;

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Visio preferred ;

  • SQL experience, specifically MSSQL Server preferred ;

  • SAP BOE experience preferred;

  • Knowledge of data integration and processing including extraction transformation, and loading (ETL) using SSIS preferred ;

  • Windows Systems experience, specifically Window Server 2012-2019 preferred;

  • Linux Operating Systems experience, specifically Linux Redhat 7.X, Centos;

  • Proven ability to work professionally and progressively in a matrix organization; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment preferred;

  • Proven business process design and development skills; ability to analyze workflow and process build and changes and utilize technology to perform data and process analysis preferred;

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills preferred;

  • Proven customer service orientation and excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong documentation and technical writing skills preferred;

  • Ability and initiative to learn new technologies preferred.

  • Epic Systems Cogito or Clarity and Caboodle SlicerDicer preferred

  • Denodo System Administration preferred

  • Tableau Administration preferred
