POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Control Clerk I position provides data-related services for the School of Nursing’s Research Facilitation Group. Data-related service include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities: data coding, data verification, data entry, thorough review and correction of any errors made during all data processing procedures, receiving and tracking data shipments, maintaining strict confidentiality and storage procedures for all data, creation of instruction manuals and related documents. Data-related support services are vital to the continued productivity and the success of the School of Nursing’s Research Facilitation.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 30%- Data entry of confidential data: Entering research data and transcribing tape recording, for multiple research studies.

  • 30% -Data verification of confidential data: Verification of data that has been entered in SPSS, resolve discrepancies and make appropriate changes to the data-set.

  • 15% - coding data: Prepare data for data entry. Data is coded using a specific code book given by the supervisor or the project coordinator to resolve any errors that were found in the data.

  • 10% -Administration: Gather materials, including data, needed for meeting, making copies of data and organizing into a presentable and understandable manner.

  • 10% -Data collection: Going to specific sites to collect data. Data collection can occur in many different formats such as; telephone interviews, in-person interviews, computer generated surveys, or an in-person packet survey.

  • 5% -Receiving data: Track and receive data for multiple studies by updating Access database indicating a Study ID had been received in by placing a “Y” in appropriate field. Check data shipped against shipping lists to assure all data listed was shipped. Follow up with supervisor or project coordinator if any discrepancies appear.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires 1 year of relevant post High School education and 1-2 years of related experience.
