Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Opportunity to join the growing CTSI Informatics team to support initiatives to transform and accelerate clinical research. Under general direction and with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative, the Research Informatician is responsible for managing informatics-related infrastructure programs, managing clinical research projects with significant informatics contents, and overseeing and contributing to the specification, development, and deployment of research tools and projects. This position serves as a primary point of contact with researchers across the medical center to help define, translate and validate clinical data requests and other data services. This position works collaboratively CTSI Informatics team members, eRecord team members, senior CTSI leadership and other research informaticians.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to the CTSI Informatics Lead Informatician. Works collaboratively with other CTSI Informatics Branch staff, including other Clinical Research Informaticians, and ISD EPIC partners, including the Enterprise Data and Analytics team. Expected to work in a collegial manner with all faculty, staff and students, and independently manage priorities and deadlines.

  • Serve as an investigator primary point of contact for clinical data requests. Evaluate research clinical data requests submitted to CTSI Informatics service team, work with investigator to understand request, ensure data request‘s compliance with HIPAA and protocol specifications, CTSI data governance policies, and other regulatory and University Data policies, and translate data requests to working summaries for ISD e-Record programmer analysts

  • Provide operational support to the new Secure Environment for Research Data Analytics (SERDA) environment including onboarding research teams, user training and support, auditing and monitoring the regulatory compliance within SERDA

  • Serve as an in-house expert and support researchers on the use of the CTSI-sponsored research patient cohort discovery tools including TriNetX, i2b2, ATLAS, etc

  • Design and deliver training to research teams to increase their capacity to utilize clinical research tools for research projects

  • Serve as e-Record/Epic subject matter expert, participate or provide consultation to clinical research projects

  • Work closely with other clinical research informaticians and programmer analysts on process improvement

    Other projects and job duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in an appropriate health or informatics, 3 – 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience/training. Background or degree in nursing highly preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of clinical research or quality improvement experience.

  • Experience with eRecord or other EHR systems is required.

  • Must have the ability to juggle several projects at once.

  • Requires excellent communication, organization, presentation, and computer/pc skills in Microsoft Office and other related software.

  • Desire to act as bridge between clinical investigators and IT professionals

  • Ability and desire to learn new software to support clinical research
