GENERAL PURPOSE:

Creates content for print and digital channels to promote research, events, and other key initiatives at the University.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Creates content for publications, including multi-media modalities to promote University research and key initiatives. While some assignments are received in the form of general instructions, most are implemented with a considerable degree of independent creativity. Work is subject to review by inspection and editing.

  2. Discovers, gathers, judges, selects, and interprets newsworthy material; interviews members of the faculty, staff, and others to identify potential stories, obtain authoritative information, and follow up on story material. Coordinates closely with supervisor, editors, and peers for advice and strategic direction. Keeps abreast of news coverage and reporters' beats; maintains relationships with the media. May produce brochures, reports, programs, feature articles, videos, and other content as assigned.

  3. Conducts extensive research in specific subjects as background in area of responsibility for the above duties and for particular projects. May supervise student intern in researching various story ideas.

  4. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor's degree required. 2 years of experience required in multi-media publications, corporate communications or agency work or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 28.27 - $ 39.57 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
