Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE:The Business Continuity Manager's responsibilities are focused around strategic oversight, maintenance and improvement of the Business Continuity Management program and oversight of the business continuity management team. The manager is responsible for the Enterprise-wide governance and operationalization of the program to identify, assess and mitigate operational risks. In addition, this role is responsible for ongoing and proactive monitoring, quality assurance and review of program compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes, maintains and develops University partnerships to identify risks and ensure support, planning and reporting are provided to the University community. Creates and presents reports for Governance Committee and Board of Trustees on program status.

  • Provides strategic recommendations for program growth and maintenance based on best practice and industry standards to the Governance Committee. Provides business intelligence to business areas for strategic and tactical decision making.

  • Conducts quality assurance of the Business Continuity Management program to identify inefficiencies or gaps as the program grows.

  • Monitors and updates policies and standards as needed to align with regulatory and accrediting controls. Collaborate with University Audit to ensure a state of audit readiness.

  • Provides leadership and direction to the business continuity management team based on Governance Committee decisions and strategies. Identifies staffing needs and is responsible for assigning tasks and projects, and all other routine personnel functions.

  • Collaborates with EH&S Director to prepare budget request and manage established budget within set guidelines

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or business continuity required; Master's degree in a related field preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in business continuity management required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Demonstrated strong knowledge and understanding of business continuity management, resiliency, recovery strategies, risk management, business impact analysis and process mapping; Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, Joint Commission and other regulatory and accrediting business continuity controls relevant to UR and URMCA to provide best practice recommendations to the business; Utilization of project management and LEAN process improvement methodologies. Certifications in FEMA ICS 100, ICS 200, IS 700 and IS 800 required; Business continuity management certification preferred (BRCI, DRI, ISO or equivalent) preferred.
