The Department of Pediatrics, Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine, has an opening for an instructor. University of Rochester Medical Center is now accepting applications for its two-year, instructor position in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine.
This two-year faculty appointment will include fellowship training that includes:
clinical work including managing Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine patients, inpatient and outpatient, case material and presentation at clinical conferences;
clinical/pathologic research and/or more basic bench research;
teaching of residents and medical students. Supervised sign-out of cases will transition to independent patient work as able over time. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate advanced interest in providing advanced lactation care to complex patients.
Qualifications :
Successful candidates will have shown outstanding promise and commitment to maternal, neonatal and family care during breastfeeding and lactation. Candidates must have completed residency (or advanced training in the case of CNM, DNP) in either Family Medicine, Pediatrics, OBGYN, Preventive Medicine or Internal Medicine. NYS provider license, DEA required, IBCLC preferred.
Number of months :
Additional training or CME as a provider to lactating parents/mothers and/or infants is desirable.
Special skills required :
Candidates should show excellence in mother/parent/infant histories and physical exams, development of differential diagnoses, care plans, care of families in the postpartum period, motivational interviewing and care of the patient in a sociodemographic context.
Minimum Education Requirements - list level of education and field(s) acceptable :
MD, DO, Midwife or DNP required.
