Responsibilities
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester (URMC) School of Medicine & Dentistry, in Rochester, NY, is currently recruiting for multiple subspecialty surgical pathologists; we are especially interested in candidates with a focus on GU, breast/gyn, ENT and peds, though candidates with other interests will be considered. Successful applicants must be board-eligible in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology and be eligible for a medical license in the State of New York.
The Department provides a very wide range of services, currently accessioning over 75,000 surgical/biopsy cases per year. More than 35 anatomic pathologists participate in a fully subspecialized sign out model.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a program in applied, translational, or basic research. The Medical Center has a highly collegial environment. There are multiple opportunities for collaborative research and for the development of clinical initiatives through interactions with Medical Center faculty.
Opportunities for teaching are ample: we have an ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowship position in cytology and non-ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowship positions in surgical pathology, in addition to rotating pathology residents and medical students.
